Abstract:

Objective The aim was to investigate the relationship between the positive rate of exfoliative cancer cells of gastric cancer and clinicopathological factors. Methods We reviewed the records of 100 patients diagnosed with gastric carcinoma who were resected surgically. In order to test the positive rate of peritoneal free cancer cells, peritoneal washes(500mL)were obtained after laparotomy. Then we investigated the relationship between positive rate of peritoneal free cancer cells of gastric cancer and clinicopathological features. Results Free cancer cells of peritoneal washes were in 20 patients, the positive rate was 20%.Univariate analysis showed that age, tumor size, depth on invasion and histology were risk factors for the positive rate of peritoneal free cancer cells.Multivariate analysis showed depth on invasion, histology were independent factors for the positive rate of peritoneal free cancer cells. Conclusion Peritoneal free cells is the important factor of developing peritoneal metastasis, and the clinicopathological factors affect the positive rate of peritoneal free cancer cells of gastric cancer patients.
