Abstract: Cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)are the main components of the matrix and associated tumor microenvironment, playing an important role in the occurrence and development of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Many studies have demonstrated that CAFs are involved in regulating the proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and resistance to chemotherapy drugs of cancer cells by secreting various types of cytokines and chemokines, growth factors, and extracellular matrix proteins. This article will review the source, activation mechanisms, and role of CAFs in the occurrence and development of NSCLC, so as to gain a deeply understanding the progression mechanism of NSCLC and provide new ideas for its treatment.

Key words: Cancer-associated fibroblasts, Tumor microenvironment, Non-small cell lung cancer
