Abstract Earthquake event deposit(seismites)is a “hot spot”in modern sedimentary geological study. Earthquake-caused soft-sediment deformations are easily confused with non-earthquake-caused soft-sediment deformations. This paper discusses earthquake-caused and non-earthquake-caused (ice melting process, natural gas hydrate leakage, hydrofracturing, slide, slump, debris flow,liquefiedsoft-sediment deformations) soft-sediment deformations and relationship between synsedimentary, penecontemporaneous earthquake-caused and non-earthquake-caused soft-sediment deformations.
