Publication ethics and malpractice statement of Journal of Palaeogeography (Chinese Edition)
In order to create an environment conducive to academic progress, and to ensure the academic quality and reputation of the Journal of Palaeogeography (Chinese Edition), it is necessary to reach agreement on the expected standards of ethical academic conduct of all parties involved in the publication of the journal, including authors, editors, peer reviewers and publishers. The Journal of Palaeogeography (Chinese Edition) has always adhered to the peer-review amodel and objected to plagiarism, multiple submissions and other academic unethical behaviors in order to ensure the scientific and innovative scientific papers published.
1) Author. The author must guarantee the originality of the manuscript. Research manuscripts should have clear research significance and details to ensure the reproducibility of the experimental process. The content of the review manuscript should be objective, comprehensive and forward-looking. The manuscript should have clear conclusions, and if the opinions and data of others are cited in the manuscript, it must have references and even the consent of others if necessary. All acts of plagiarism are considered to be against academic ethics. Submitting an article to multiple journals at the same time is unacceptable. The experimental data in the manuscript should be true and reliable, and forgery, tampering or plagiarism and other unethical behaviors are strictly prohibited. Each of the authors who signed the manuscript must have made a substantial contribution, and all of the authors are in complete agreement on the final version of the paper and the intention to publish it. Authors should write their own manuscripts, any "third party" to provide essay writing services will be firmly resisted. Every author is obligated to participate in the peer review process. If the author finds any major error in the published article, he/she shall be obliged to inform the editorial office of the journal in the first time. All authors are obliged to cooperate with the editor in retracting or correcting the article.
2) Reviewers. Any manuscript that is reviewed must be treated as confidential, and information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal purposes. Any reviewer selected is expected to conduct an objective review of the paper and reviewers are expected to avoid any comments that are offensive, derogatory or unobjective. Reviewers should point out relevant published work that is not been cited. If a paper is found to have serious academic misconduct, it should be reported to the editorial department truthfully. If there is a conflict of interest between the reviewer and the manuscript, the reviewer is obliged to inform the editorial board and recuse himself from reviewing the manuscript. If the reviewer is not familiar with the research content of the manuscript or cannot complete the review within the specified time, he/she should inform the editorial department in time.
3) Academic editors. Academic editors should evaluate the manuscripts completely according to their academic value and have the right to reject and accept the papers. Academic editors should not disclose or use any unpublished information in the manuscript. The manuscript should be processed in a timely manner, and the expert review opinions and editorial decision should be fed back to the author in a timely manner. Editors are obligated to keep the information of reviewers confidential and to withhold comments that are offensive, demeaning or unobjective from the authors. Reasonable responses should be taken when academic misconduct is found in submitted manuscripts or ethics complaints are made in published papers.
