Abstract: Objective To investigate telomerase activity of seborrheic keratosis and explore the relationship between telomerase activity and seborrheic keratosis. Methods Telomerase activity was detected using the modified telomeric repeated amplification protocol(TRAP-ELISA))assay in 30 seborrheic keratosis and 15 melanoma and 15 normal lesions obtained through open biopsy or resection. Results Telomerase activity of seborrheic keratosis was significantly higher than that in the controls, and this difference had statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The findings suggest that telomerase activity should be associated with proliferation of seborrheic keratosis.
