Abstract: Metallothionein(MTs)is a small protein, rich in cysteine.MTs is mainly divided into four subtypes in the human body(MT1,MT2,MT3 and MT4).The main function of MTs is to scavenge free radicals and participate in the detoxification and homeostasis of heavy metals, resulting from antioxidant properties.Recent studies have found that MTs can participate in the repair of DNA damage, and participate in the occurrence and development of tumors, and are related to the drug resistance of tumor cells. This article will review the research progress of MTs in colorectal cancer.
