Abstract: Objective To explore the expression of MT1-MMP and VEGF in breast carcinoma tissue and their association with the clinicopathological features of breast cancer. Methods The immunohistochemical staining method was used to evaluate the expression of MT1-MMP and VEGF in 67 specimens of breast carcinoma and adjacent normal tissues, and its correlations to clinicopathological features were analyzed. Results The expression level of the MT1-MMP and VEGF in breast carcinoma tissues was markedly higher than that in the paraneoplastic breast tissue(P<0.05).The expression of MT1-MMP was positively correlated with the expression of VEGF in breast carcinoma tissues(P=0.005).The expressions of MT1-MMP and VEGF were positively correlated to TNM stage and axillary lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).Conclusions The increasing expressions of MT1-MMP and VEGF were correlated with invasion and metastasis of breast carcinoma, combined examination of VEGF and MT1-MMP can be of value in assessment of the malignancy and in prognostic evaluation of breast carcinoma.
