Abstract: Objective DNA methylation is intimately associated with tumorigenesis, progression and chemoresistance of ovarian cancer, which is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy. It regulates the expression of genes through altered DNA methylation at CpG islands of promoter.Aberration of methylation is relatively stable.Detection of methylation biomarkers in the serum has potential as a minimally invasive detection tool.A greater understanding of the mechanism of DNA methylation in ovarian cancer will be useful for improving early diagnostic, therapeutic responsiveness and evaluation of prognosis.
